Stromab launch their new 'Advantage Plus' programmable push fed cross cut saw.

Based on the popular and most widely used programmable crosscut saw in the UK, The Matrix Plus Advantage has been conceived for anyone who needs to crosscut on a regular basis, but thought they could not afford an automatic machine. Typically used for garden furniture, fencing, pallet / shed manufacturing and general joinery production the 'Advantage Plus' is very competitively priced at just £19,950.00 for a 6m capacity model.

The Machine has been designed for programmable and repetitive cutting and is equipped with a 10hp saw unit which has a pneumatic upstroke action and variable speed control enabling the saw to cut large section sizes up to 360mm wide. The pusher / feed is via a heavy duty rack and pinion feeding system which is normally only available on high specification machines. Thanks to the strong and sturdy all steel infeed table the machine can easily cope with large sections of hardwood / softwood or packs of timber. Programming is extremely quick and simple and so very easy for operator/s to create new cutting lists or run the machine from existing programs from the stored cutting list. The machine is equally suited for either cutting 'one off' pieces or for large batch runs, but in either case giving repeat cutting accuracy. Generally a machine of this specification can do the same amount of work as 3 manual pull over saws.

In addition this new model is fitted with all the same safety features found on the Matrix range, such as electrically interlocked safety hood, braked saw motor and emergency pull cord along the length of the infeed table thus affording the operator a high level of safety.

Exclusive UK agents believe the Stromab 'Advantage Plus' is destined to prove a huge hit with UK customers who are looking to speed up their cross cutting operation with a quality piece of machinery available at a very affordable price.

New Intorex TMC DB 1500 CNC machining centre.

Intorex have recently introduced the TMC DB version of their popular 5 axis CNC machining centre for solid wood components. As standard the TMC features automatic hopper feed loading with the component then being held between centres so it can rotate through 360 degrees. It then can be machined with the saw blade unit (for producing a turned section) and or the milling / shaping head. In addition the TMC is equipped with an overhead router head with 6 position automatic tool changer meaning a wide range of other machining options are available. Finally thanks to an inbuilt sanding unit, the component can come off the machine completely finished. Now with the DB version the TMC also is fitted with either a small matrix type table or vacuum / mechanical clamps meaning it can work like a conventional CNC router thus offering an even higher level of versatility. The machine is ideal for the production of chair legs, table legs, sofa feet, newel posts, stair spindles, newel caps, table supports etc etc.

Trenching, Haunching & Notching.

Specialist machine supplier JJ Smith are now able to offer a complete range of dedicated machines for trenching, haunching and notching. These machines can be used for a wide range of different applications including the machining of furniture parts, fence pails, gates, garden shed components, door frames etc etc.

From Graule there is the popular QNF manual pull over trenching and notching machine which is equipped with a TCT adjustable grooving / trenching tool that can be set with a maximum width of 60mm. As standard the cutter head arm can swivel and tilt to produce angled trenches. Also the machine is equipped with horizontal workpiece clamping plus a hydraulic brake damper that helps prevent the cutter 'snatching' at the timber. For Haunching operations there are two models of machine available. The H&M VN250 is a traditional type haunching machine that can be used for a number of different machining operations which include producing a round or vee on the top of fence pails. It has a 250mm long horizontal shaft that can accept tools up to 250mm dia that can give a max depth of cut of approximately 65mm. The workpiece clamping and vertical movement of the cutter head is automatic once the two hand push button safety control has been activated. From Comec there is the FRO milling machine with horizontal axis. This has a 500mm long cutter shaft that has a useful working run of 200mm, while the maximum cutting depth is 50mm. Again the FRO is suitable for a wide range of machining applications including production of drawer box joints, notches in furniture, joinery and garden products.

Centauro ALFA

New Centauro NC Milling Machine for Joinery Components.

The all new Centauro ALFA NC controlled milling / slotting machine from Centauro is now available in the UK .

Centauro Alfa NC Milling Machine for Joinery Components

The ALFA has been designed to carry out a number of machining operations such as hinge and lock plate recesses, euro groove slots, handle holes, key slots etc in window and door components. As the head automatically swivels through 90 degrees it is possible to perform vertical or horizontal machining without having to turn over or move the component.

Programming is extremely simple and quick thanks to the colour graphic touch screen 'power 1000' controller that uses pre-installed electronic macro templates. The x axis length machining capacity is 2400mm, while the overall length of the table is 3000mm. The 3.3kw electro spindle has variable and programmable spindle speeds from 0-18,000 rpm and can accept a cutter up to 16mm in diameter. The machine is fitted with side and rear safety guards and a front safety light curtain. JJ Smith believe that the ALFA, due to its simple operation and competitive pricing, will prove a great success with UK joinery companies who need to increase flexibility, efficiency and quality.

New Balestrini OMNIA CNC Tenoning - Mortising - Cutting and Boring Machine.

The Balestrini Omnia is a compact, simple to use, flexible CNC machining centre capable of executing a number of different machinng operations such a tenoning (square end or round end), slot mortising, end cutting and boring.
The machine works through axis interpolation according to what has been programmed through the special user friendly Balestrini software. It is composed by two working units - an end cutting and tenoning machine and a drilling and mortising unit. For tenoning the machine uses twin table operation while for mortising/boring the tables easily fold down to allow the clamping of straight or shaped components.

New Programmable 'Quick Set' Single End Tenoner From Saomad.

To compliment their existing range of classical specification heavy duty 4 and 5 head joinery spec. single end tenoners, Saomad have recently introduced a new fully programmable model that reduces set up times thus making the machine very flexible for short production runs and one off's.

The UTP 150 ‘Quick Set’ is as standard fitted with cut off saw, top and bottom tenoning heads, and a vertical scribe head.
New 'Quick Set' Tenoner From Saomad
All the main axis that require adjustment are motorised and automatically positioned via the Siemens Simatic control unit. All the operator has to do is enter the required dimensions for the cut off saw horizontal position, shoulder length of top tenon and bottom tenon and finally vertical and horizontal position of the scribe head.

This is then memorised and stored under a program name or number that when recalled and activated will set the heads to the required position in a matter of seconds, with no manual operator input other than adjusting the 2 pneumatic work piece clamps to suit the timber section to be machined.

Table movement is manual although on request it can be motorised with variable programmable feed speed and automatic return to the operator. Another option is single 400mm long vertical scribe shaft.

The UTP range has already enjoyed considerable success in the UK joinery industry with over 80 machines in operation. JJ Smith believe that the new ‘Quick Set’ model will appeal to the many window and door manufacturers who are looking for a simple to use, quick setting programmable single end tenoner that will help increase versatility and flexibility which is so critical in today’s modern workshops.
