High Specification Garden Buildings:

The construction of garden sheds and summer houses has traditionally been of a panel based design.
However, the continental log cabin style design, using a half lap style joint, is becoming increasingly more popular due to the increase in demand for higher value garden buildings.
Also with the trend towards homeworking, better quality outdoor buildings are increasingly being used as additional living space or home offices.

JJ Smith have supplied one of the first machines in the UK for producing this type of joint. The Auer is equipped with two vertical trenching heads and two horizontal trenching heads that are automatically sequenced. It can also be equipped with a cut off saw and boring unit for drilling the through hole for the tie rod.

Haunching:

JJ Smith have recently launched onto the UK market a dedicated haunching, notching and profiling machine manufactured by H&M of Holland.

The machine was introduced to meet the demand from inparticular the garden furniture, shed and fence manufacturing industries for a simple to use, quick machine for producing a shaped or profiled design on components such as fence pails, shed apexes and pergolas.

In addition the machine can also be used for finger jointing, comb jointing , grooving and cross trenching operations.
