Cases For Industry Increase Crosscutting Capacity With A Stromab Matrix Saw
When Simon Higson from Cases for Industry was looking to replace his aging automatic crosscut saw, there was only ever one place to go which was to his near neighbour in Knowsley, JJ Smith. Cases for Industry are part of the FDL Packaging Group who offer a wide range of large wooden packing cases, crates, plywood boxes and glass stillages for the domestic market and export trade. The machine they were replacing was originally inherited from another part of the company but soon became a crucial component in the companies manufacturing process. Simon knew they had a potential major problem with a bottleneck in the factory if the machine was down for repair for any amount of time. So a decision was reached to replace the machine before anything critical went wrong.
Having had dealings with JJ Smith in the past for some other stand alone machines, Simon contacted Paul Parker from JJ Smith to arrange a visit to see the range of Stromab programmable crosscut saws that are permanently set up and on demonstration in their showroom. After reviewing three different models, it was decided that a Stromab Matrix Base with a 6 meter capacity would meet all their production requirements. The saw was extensively tested during the demonstration and it was clear to Simon and his operators the benefits this machine could bring in terms of much improved cutting cycle speeds and ease of programming. An order was placed the following week, and the Stromab saw was delivered immediately after. JJ Smith took care of removing and disposal of the existing machine, and the installation / training on the new Stromab Matrix which was up and fully operational by the end of the same day. Simon comments "The complete job from point of order to machine installation went very smoothly, with minimal disruption to our production. Even though JJ Smith are on our door step, we still needed to be sure we were choosing the correct partners to work with, especially given the importance this machine is to our production. I am pleased to say without doubt we made the right choice. Paul Parker adds "Automatic programmable pushfed cross cut saws are one of our key areas of expertise, hence why we have invested in a permanent showroom demo area of different machine models. This gives customers the opportunity to bring their own material along for test cutting. With the demand for Stromab saws still on the rise, and UK sales now exceeding the 300 mark we may soon have to expand our demonstration facility".
