Twenty Years On Atlas Sheds Install Second Stromab Programmable Cross Cut Saw
Atlas Sheds based in Knowsley are a well established manufacturer of garden sheds, summerhouses and play houses in a variety of styles and sizes. They have supplied direct to the public and through trade outlets for the last 30 years.
Atlas were looking to replace their Automatic Crosscut Saw which had been in daily use since installation nearly 20 years ago, and was the main engine room of production. Although still fully operational it was coming to the end of its working life, and so a new replacement was needed. Managing Director Paul Deary contacted J J Smith who had supplied the original saw. Paul was delighted to hear J J Smith were still offering the Stromab Matrix range of crosscuts which has served Atlas so well for many years. A demonstration at the J J Smith Liverpool showroom was subsequently arranged and Atlas placed an order for immediate delivery. Within 2 days, J J Smith arranged removal of the existing machine and delivery / installation of the new replacement. Interestingly during Atlas’s visit to see the new machine operating, Paul Parker [ J J Smith Sales Director ] checked records on the original Crosscut, and it transpired to be one of the first batch of Stromab Matrix’s supplied into the UK in the late 1990’s. Over the following 20 or so years, J J Smith have supplied and installed over 300 straight and angled cutting Automatic Crosscuts from Stromab into the shed / packing case / joinery / furniture industries, and the Stromab range continues to break records for J J Smith being the best selling machines in their comprehensive cross cutting portfolio. Originally Stromab manufactured just one model of programmable saw, but now there are 5 in total, each designed to offer customers different cutting solutions including optimisation, defecting, notching and angler cutting. As standard all are fitted with heavy duty rack and pinion drives for precision positioning of the pusher, heavy duty upcut saw units and the very latest digital, industrial touch screen controllers. The last word goes to Paul Deary who commented to J J Smith after the seamless installation of the new machine was complete “Fingers crossed, I’ll be back in touch in another 20 years to buy the next one !".
