The machine as standard has a 3m bed length, although on request this can be longer. To give maximum stability when machining, the bed is manufactured from electro-welded heavy duty solid steel thick plate. The forward movement speed is variable and can be controlled through the hydraulic potentiometer conveniently located for the operator. Additionally for producing deep mortise slots a 'woodpecker' action can be programmed to allow wood shavings to clear.
For secure workpiece clamping the machine has a full length top hydraulic pressure beam together with 3 adjustable horizontal hydraulic clamping cylinders. It can be equipped with up to 4 totally independent horizontal swing chisel heads that have automatic programmable positioning in the X axis via heavy duty rack and pinion drive and precision linear slideways. Each one is equipped with a 3hp motor and pneumatically activated combined chip breaker and dust extraction connection. Movement of the mortise heads in the Z axis is manual with Siko mechanical height readouts for easy and precise setting. The control panel and monitor are mounted on a moveable console that allows the operator to position it to suit his optimum working location. The dedicated windows based programming software 'Delta-Soft' is quick and simple to use, and for operator checking / reference there is graphic representation of the mortise slot programs created.
In addition to this model, Deltawood also offer the RDC-A which is a 9 axis fully CNC controlled automatic machine with the ability to mortise, groove and notch complete with integrated infeed and outfeed handling systems. There is also the mechanical multi head RDC-M mortisers that can be equipped with 3,4 or 5 mortise heads.
